Basement Ramblings

Basement Log, Day 5: The purging continues. Finally deal with the fact I have been driving around with the booth leftovers in the back of my suv for 2 weeks. Bring them inside. Sigh heavily knowing what I need to do. Start sorting. Watch Celebrity Ghost Stories that are DVR'd. Bow head in shame.

15 Minutes Later: These are the bags that are going to Goodwill. Time to let a few things go. Feel pleased with myself. Decide to check email for a minute while I brew some more coffee.

10 Minutes Later: Am on my way to church. Got email from Children's Closet reminding me sale is next month. Have to pay my sellers fee and get tags. And hangers.

10 Minutes after that: Get supplies from church and head back home. Realize I have not begun sorting for Children's Closet Sale. Or pricing. The sale is a few weeks away. Panic. Get coffee. Focus. Start the procedure.

Thursday: Time to go back into the basement. I am not letting this project go until it is done. And I have a few more Celebrity Ghost Stories before I can delete them off the DVR.

Celebrity Ghost Stories? I don't know of that! What network is it on?

The stuff had been in your trunk for only 2 weeks? Come on. You can do better than that! I've got stuff in my trunk from my daughter's wedding a year and a half ago.

The sale is only a few weeks away? A few *weeks* and you're already pricing? You don't wait until it's a few *days* away?

I'm impressed. Wish I was more like that. Wish I didn't let things hang around until they've become part of the scenery and wish I didn't procrastinate so. Sometimes I make a real effort to change, but It's never turned out well.

I agree with Wanda! You're way ahead of me - I can procrastinate with the best of them! Good luck with getting everything finished.

Funny! The back of my car is usually filled with thrifted finds which doesn't bother me except when I had to make an unexpected trip to get tires yesterday. I'm sure the tire guy thought I was living in my car...

I love that you have the task of clearing out the DVR in there -- I do that and sometimes find myself stressing because my DVR is full and I still need to watch 3 episodes of Law and Order UK! Ack! :)

Good Morning Ladies!

CGS is on Biography...most of them are best to watch with the remote in your hand, so you can fast forward through the goofier ones:)

The stuff in my trunk is SUPPOSED to be listed on Etsy by now. I am horrible at listing stuff on Etsy. How am I supposed to sell things if I don't list them? It is a mind game I play with myself daily. I need to find a way to MAKE myself do this daily, or at least once a week, for petes sake!

Wanda, I am cracking up at the stuff from a year and a half ago! And Into Vintage...isn't that the most humiliating feeling?! I bet he got a chuckle out of it!

Amy...it's a tough job, but I try my best to get it done. I usually do that while do other things so I don't feel like such a slug, haha!!

Okay, here's what I'm going to do: copy and download the pictures of the stuff you are taking to Goodwill, then the next post where you show pics of the great stuff you bought at Goodwill I'm going to compare the pictures and see if you bought any of your stuff back! LOL It could happen, because if you loved it once you'll love it again.

Reading everyone's blogs about decluttering their spaces finally has me motivated! For 2 years (yes, really) I've been tossing everything into the basement to the point where I just have a path to the washer and dryer, and my stomach clenches when I think of what to do with it all.
I have now spent 2 hours getting a "start" at it - but at least it's a start! Thanks for your good influence!

Ninny--You make a good stalker! And in the event you need to find a new home for Tootie, we will take her. She is my screensaver right now!

Anon--I am SO PROUD OF YOU! You have taken the first steps, do NOT STOP. You will be amazed at the feeling of getting rid of accumulated clutter. It is so worth it. Please let me know how it is going!

Good for you for decluttering! I'm trying to clear out a storage room, too, and find it hard to let go. Every time I need a reality check, I watch a couple of hours of "Hoarders: Buried Alive" and that usually does the trick!
