Decorating For The Holidays

The decorating has BEGUN! Actually, it was mostly done last Friday, but there is still a lot of moving around of things right now. I like to call this week the transition stage...decor moves from spot to spot until it looks 'at home'.

That line of lights going down the side of the mantle is driving me nuts. But waddya do??

Enjoy your day! Sonya

Since yours is done, will you come decorate my house??!! Looks so cheery!

I especially like the Santa on the left in the 3rd picture - my Mom had that one, plus the pair of reindeer that attached to the front. My niece has that one now - I have an even older vintage Santa instead.

What to do? Run another string down the other side! (That would probably bug me, too.

My only decoration so far (well, besides a couple of nativities that are always out) is the wreath I made last weekend. I do have next week off, so watch out! I do need to hang my Advent banner/calendar tonight.

Love your decorations. I've gotten off to a slow start, but have a few things out. My husband actually suggested getting a tree this weekend from my favorite tree farm - that's a first. Usually he has to be dragged. Maybe hide the lights behind the curtain? Or get one of those short strings - do they make a 50 bulb string or is 100 the shortest?

Ummmm, extension cord? :)

Looks good. Starting my decorating tomorrow. Hope to have my cards out then, too. :)

If the lights going down th emantel bug you that much, get battery operated lights, costs more in batteries but no plug!

As much as I love Xmas I can't bear to put the tree until mid-december, otherwise it gets on my nerves, lol! It is what it is...

It's looking pretty festive around the Dime Store Thrift house! Loving that gumball machine.

Love that you put ornaments in the gumball deal... clever.. : )
I let my garland hang down about 10/12" with the lights, run an extension cord up the wall & hide the plug in the garland... ( I put a tiny nail in the side of the mantle surround to hold the extension cord in place & so it doesn't show... Make sense?? : )

Gosh, I love hearing from you all! Will spend part of today doing a bit of blog visiting:)

OK, will do the extention cord thing hiding it in the garland. Totally makes sense.

I remember using some battery operated tiny lights a few years ago to light up a corner that didn't have a plug in (old, old house) and think I need to find some more of those. That was when I had (what seemed like) hundreds of small trees everywhere:)

I just found your blog, and I love looking at the older posts. The question you made about what to do about the line of lights down the side of the fireplace? You can use a piece of PVC pipe to hide them, and push it into the corner so it blends in. PVC is solid so the lights won't show. Just a thought. I don't know if you really wanted a suggestion. Merry Christmas!
